Multiplication Facts

A letter about our multiplication fact quiz schedule was sent home today.  Please sign the bottom portion and return it to school.  You may keep the top portion of the letter to remind you of the quiz dates.

The majority of math-related stress in 4th grade students comes from the lack of knowledge of the basic multiplication facts.  It is EXTREMELY important that students become fluent in their facts so they can concentrate and spend time on the process of HOW to solve a problem, and not just spend all of their time trying to do the computation of the problem.

Students may use the link to the Reflex Math program below and log-in their lunch number.  This program is designed to help kids improve their fact fluency.

Week of Nov. 17-21

Screen Shot 2014-11-16 at 11.14.48 PMI will be attending a conference in Dallas from Tuesday after lunch through Friday.  If you need to change transportation or get a message to your child or the substitute, you may call Mrs. Smallwood (903-291-2118), Mrs. McCurdy (903-291-2119) or the office (903-291-2101),  and they can forward the message.  The sub will continue to check planners each day, so notes can be written in those also.

Brrrr! It’s getting COLDER!

Screen Shot 2014-11-09 at 9.23.29 PM

The weather is getting colder and kids are beginning to wear jackets, coats, and hoodies.  Parents, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, write your child’s name in these items!!  The kids often remove these items and they get left in classrooms, the gym, the cafeteria, and even outside on the playground.  Our Lost & Found is already starting to pile up and it hasn’t even been really cold—YET!  Labeling the items allows them to be returned to the owners, and it also prevents arguments over the ownership of the items.  Thank you so much for your help with this!
