We’re looking for a few good people…
Do you love what you do? Does your job involve the use of any math skills? Are you interested in sharing some details about your career with our 4th grade students?
We’re getting ready to begin a project-based learning unit that allows our students to discover the uses of math in the real world, and we are looking for some guest speakers to share some information about their careers. We hope to host a Career Day on October 6 to introduce the students to a variety of professions that involve the use of math. Each guest will be given 20-30 minutes to introduce his/her occupation, discuss its relationship with math, and have a short question & answer session.
If you (or someone you know) would be willing to share your job expertise, send me an email ([email protected]) no later than Wednesday, September 14. Please include your name, student connection, career, phone #, and preferred presentation time (morning 8:30-10:00 or afternoon 1:00-2:30). We will get in touch with you once we determine a specific schedule. Thank you for taking an interest in our students’ futures!
NO CAREER OR JOB IS TOO BIG OR TOO SMALL!
We have 2 teams in 4th grade this year, and your child is part of the Hunter/Clift/McCurdy team. He/She will have me for math, Mrs. Clift for language arts, writing, & science, and Mrs. McCurdy for reading & social studies. Mrs. Clift and Mrs. McCurdy will both be posting important information (such as spelling words, vocabulary words, etc.) for their classes on their class blogs, so you will need to subscribe to both of them to stay up to date. The links below will take you to each blog. Look for the “Subscribe by Email” box and enter your email address to subscribe.
You don’t have to rely on your child getting home with a note–get information for both Mrs. Hunter’s Homeroom and Mrs. Hunter’s Math classes right on your phone! Math info & reminders will be sent through the math class, and all other general info & reminders will be sent just to the homeroom class. (So if you’re in my homeroom, you’ll want to sign up for both classes.)
For Mrs. Hunter’s Homeroom Class:
Text the message @hunter4hr to the number 81010. If you’re having trouble with the number 81010, try texting @hunter4hr to (903)871-1641.
For Mrs. Hunter’s Math Classes:

Wow! Has your summer zipped by like mine? I hope you’ve played, rested, and enjoyed time with your family. Mark your calendars for Meet the Teacher, which will be on Thursday, August 18, from 4:30 to 5:30. Bring your supplies and come meet your 4th grade team of teachers!
As your math teacher, I’m giving you some advice: spend some time reviewing your multiplication facts because it is VERY important to know them when you come in to 4th grade! 🙂
This fast and furious year is coming to a close, and I must say that I’ve enjoyed getting to know all of the kids and watching them grow! I expect GREAT things from them in the future!
